Biennale Jatim (East Java) IX is a biennual event in East Java that is usually hold by the government. In 2019, Biennale Jatim 8 was handed to collectives by the government, because of political refocusing. Naturally, the next after, which is the Biennale Jatim IX (or BJIX, in short) was also managed by group of collectives such as Serbukayu, Gulung Tukar, Kecoak Timur, and many more.
partnering with Benny Widyo (Gulung Tukar), my job is mainly to give suggestions for the artistic direction of the whole event. Even though realistically, writing and researching about how the autonomy of collectivism of East Java became most of my workload.
